In Home Hospice Care and the Angels That Helped Me at Home

by Betty
(South Carolina)

Good Morning all,
I have seen the pros and cons of Hospice care and would like to put in a few words....
I lost Ben Feb.18, and it was a long two years..... He was given to Hospice nearly a year ago.It was at that time I was introduced to some Angels..... Without them, I would have to put him in a nursing home. And we all know how that works. There was the social worker who handled his case, the wonderful caring nurses, who did all in their power to make him comfortable. We also had hospice aide that came and bathed him and made sure there were no red spots or breakdown areas developing on his skin. They rubbed him with lotions and creams. He always smelled so good.
Ben died peacefully. No pain or discomfort.

I am left with the knowledge I could not have done any more than I did for him.

They all came yesterday to have a lunch with us and tell of their memories.... Some sad, some funny, but all good....I will always thank them for caring about me too..
Just a word for these kind people. I know all are not so loving but, if anyone needs them, I pray they keep trying until they get the good ones.

Betty,
First, please let me say I am so sorry for your loss. Then I would like to thank you for sharing your story with us.

I, too, had a wonderful hospice experience with my father and then again with my mother in law. I have had many be disappointed in their hospice experience.

I think that it is very important for others to understand that, if you are not unhappy with the services being provided, you have a right to terminate those services and get services from another provider. Not all hospice providers are created equal.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time,Betty.
